Supra Nero-X review of new budget sport headphones

More sporty and affordable

The budget option for award winning Nitro-X is better for training and still sounds good.

  • Good battery life and fast charging. Robust. Excellent sound quality.
  • Not as comfortable as the predecessor.

When we tested a little more costly wireless plugs last year, Supra’s first wireless model Nitro-X was named Best Buy. When are they back with even cheaper Nero-X. The construction is a bit different. The battery is moved to the center of the cord, but thanks to the slip-free surface they are still in place. A clamp keeps them in place even during exercise. Supra markets the Nero-X as training troops. This because they tolerate sweat and have, as before, a kevlar reinforced cord.

Two sizes of “wings” hold them in place in the ears, while four sizes of silicone pillows ensure the fit. However, they are not as comfortable as if they had been angled like Nitro-X. You also get a practical transport bag. The battery life is excellent and can be charged in two hours.

Smaller clutter and lower budget, of course, made it difficult for Supra to keep the level of sound quality. But they have succeeded surprisingly well. Before recording, they let a little bit of noise, but after a few hours of maturation it loosens. The bass is not as rock hard, but it is still a pleasure to listen to all sorts of genres. Above all, they impress with picking up details from the music, and that they are so controlled and sound so effortless.

The Nero-X is resistant to sweat and has a kevlar reinforced cord.

If you think that last year’s award winning Nitro-X is a bit too expensive, you can compromise and choose Nero-X instead. You do not get the same comfortable fit and hard-wearing bass, but on the other side you get smaller sticks that are more suitable for exercise. They still tolerate sweating and rough treatment. You also get long battery life and convenient fast charging. Sound quality does not reach the same high level, but is actually among the best in the price range.
