Test: Sennheiser Momentum Wireless

BEST POSSIBLE SOUND QUALITY AND GOOD NOISE REDUCTION, HOWEVER, SLIGHTLY HIGH PRICE TAG.

Sennheiser is a company with a very wide portfolio when it comes to headphones of all kinds. A couple of years ago we tested cordless Momentum, which this test copy is a copy of. However, Bluetooth support and active noise reduction have been added.

The headphones are available in a variety of color combinations, but our test specimen was fitted with a dark brown headband. The same color tone on the pillows of the cups, these were in brown leather.

On one of the covers is the control unit that you use to handle calls and, for example, music playback. The device also supports NFC, for easy pairing with up to two simultaneous devices. Those who like or need cable connectivity get a 1.4 meter long audio cable with 3.5 millimeter connection.

Anything else included is a cable with micro USB connector. This is used for charging, which takes only three hours (from empty battery). A charge gives a runtime of about 20 hours during playback.

Since the cable does not have a built-in microphone, you can rely on that integrated in the covers. And it’s really not a bad alternative, rather the opposite. In fact, it gave the test’s cleanest conversation noise and disturbing winds had minimal impact. Clearly impressive!

The sealing cups, in turn, provide good passive noise reduction. Combined with the active reduction, the result is really good. You can release everything in the environment and focus only on the conversation or, for example, the music.

The sound quality is also on top, it’s almost perfect with an incredible span across all records. The base is deep and interacts with the middle register in an exemplary manner. The higher tones add an unprecedented dynamics that are definitely in the top of this test.

The only thing we could wish for for the next model is that the active noise reduction could be adjusted manually. Then it can be a first place, depending on how the competitors have evolved when that time comes.
